INCIDENT STORY:

May 26, 2008: Engine 2 was special called for a fire in a 1 story multiple dwelling in Hyde Park. Upon arrival, Engine 2 was directed to assist the first due crews. One of the apartments that burned belonged to Jason Simpson, a career Firefighter with the Fairview Fire District. Fairview has set up a fund to help their Brother Firefighter and donations can be mailed to: Fairview Professional Firefighters, 258 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. May 2008: The City of Poughkeepsie Local 596 proudly sponsors The Poughkeepsie Firefighters little league team. We wish them the best of luck for a winning season.

May 14, 2008: Early this morning Engine 1 was dispatched for an emergency child birth. Prior to arrival, dispatch updated Engine 1 that EMD instructions for imminent child birth were being given. Engine 1's crew, FF Rugar, FF Parise, and FF Joyce helped the mother deliver her baby safely. A healthy mother and baby were then transported to Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

MAY 13, 2008: City Firefighters were called for a reported structure fire at 120 Thopmson St. at around 5:15pm this evening. First due Engine 2 transmitted the 10-75 with smoke showing. Engine 2 quickly contained the fire to the exterior wall. City fire was assisted by the Fairview Fire District with their FAST Team. All units cleared the scene within one hour.

May 13, 2008: Engine 2 and Tower Ladder 2 were special called for a Second Alarm fire on Jones St. in the Arlington Fire District. Both companies assisted first due units on the third floor and the fire was knocked down in about 15 minutes.

After 20 years of service, Firefighter Rich Flanagan is retiring. Rich joined the ranks of the Poughkeepsie firefighters in April 02, 1988. He will be missed by all. Good Luck Brother.
